Frequently Asked Questions

Bridal FAQs:

  • Do I Need To Make An Appointment To Try On Wedding Gowns?

Yes, in order to provide the best experience we do require that you set up an appointment.

Please note that Saturday Bridal Consultations appointments come with a $35 service charge.

  • Who Should I Bring To My Appointment?

We recommend bringing 2-5 of your closest family/friends as this will help keep the focus on the bride and allow for comfortable seating for your party.

  • What Sample Sizes Does Your Store Carry?

We carry a wide variety of sizes ranging from 0-22. Most gowns are orderable in sizes 0-30.

  • How Long Is My Appointment?

For a first visit bridal appointment we set up an 50-70 minute appointment. If you are a return bride we would set up an appointment for 30-50 minutes.

  • When Should I Order My Wedding Dress?

For a stress free order, we suggest ordering your gown 8-12 months before your wedding date.  Most wedding gowns take approximately 4-5 months to produce.  In most cases, each wedding gown is treated as a special order, meaning that production will not begin on your gown until the order is placed. You will also want to allow for alterations to be done once your gown is received.

  • Is There An Advantage To Ordering Early?

Yes! If you wait to order the gown you love, you run the risk of that dress being discontinued. In this industry, our designers discontinue styles at least twice a year. Most of these discontinuations happen with little to no warning which could result in you not getting the dress of your dreams. In addition, we believe the wedding gown to be one of the most important parts of a wedding therefore, ordering your gown early will give you peace of mind and assist you in finalizing the remaining details of your wedding.

  • Can I get my measurements so I can order a dress online?

Yes! Whether you are buying your dress online or from another store, we can measure you at our store for $20. Standard measurements are bust, waist, hips, and hollow to hem.

  • What If My Wedding Is Less Than 6 Months Away, Can I Still Get A Dress?

Absolutely! Any of the wedding gowns we carry in store are able to be purchased off the floor. In some cases, our designers offer rush shipping options for weddings under 6 months, but rush fees do apply.

  • When Should I Expect To Receive My Wedding Gown?

After your wedding gown order has been placed it takes approximately 5-8 months to arrive in store (gowns with custom changes such as hollow to hem measurements may take additional time). Upon receiving your order we will inspect the gown and contact you via E-mail as soon as possible. At this time you should schedule an appointment to try on your dress and make any necessary arrangements for alterations with your seamstress of choice.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of payment (cash, check, credit card). We prefer that you pay for your gown in full.  If you prefer to break up the cost a 70% deposit is required to order your wedding gown and the remainder is due 6 weeks after you place your order.  Dresses sold "off the rack" must be paid in full.  No exchanges or credits.

  • What is your reservation/cancellation policy?

Please note that if you are reserving an appointment time on Saturday or Sunday, you will be required to leave a credit card on file. We require 48 hours notice of a cancellation so we can fill the appointment slot, otherwise a $35 cancellation fee will be charged.

Bridal Alteration FAQs:

  • Will I need alterations? / How Do Alterations Work?

Most bridal wear is constructed so that it will fit a wide range of body shapes and sizes. Do not be alarmed if your dress appears large in your first fitting, this is absolutely normal. Alterations are usually necessary and result in an additional charge.

  • Are Alterations Available At Your Store And Included In The Price Of The Gowns?

We offer on-site alterations and thus the cost of alterations are not included in the price of the gown. However, you are free to choose your own seamstress.

  • What Do Alterations Cost?

Alteration costs will vary based on the extent of alterations needed.

  • How long do bridal alterations usually take? When should I book?

Typically a bride will have at least 3 fittings before her dress is 100% complete. We like to start the bridal alterations at least 3 to 4 months prior to your wedding date. Alterations can be completed in less time but may be subjected to a rush fee.

  • When should I book? no fee consultations for DCB"s Brides.

Booking early is recommended to ensure we have time to accommodate you to the best of our abilities, but please do your best to stick to the original appointment. Evenings and weekends usually book up about a month in advance during the busy season (Feb-October) so try to book early if you have a strict schedule. Please be aware that any due date within eight weeks of your wedding will be charged $50 rush fee per garment, six weeks will be $100, and under four weeks (if we are able to accommodate) will be an additional $150 .
